Committees
Our committees are the heart and soul of the Association and lake community. Our committee members are made up of amazing people who recognize how special Lake Eden is and want to protect and improve the lake, the overall ecosystem and lake life for everyone to enjoy for years to come. Consider joining a committee to meet new friends and to help further our initiatives. Volunteer as much or as little time as you like. You can volunteer for a single task or on an ongoing basis. We welcome any level of involvement.
-
BUOYS: This committee places/removes buoys at the start/end of each season to designate low areas in the lake.
-
FUNDRAISING: Raises money for management of Invasive species and any other association goal.
-
GREETER PROGRAM: This committee works with the Vermont Dept. of Environmental Conservation’s Public Boat Access Greeter Program, whose goal is to keep invasive species out of Vermont lakes. The Greeter Program Manager oversees the paid greeters and program to ensure procedures are followed and employee trainings (offered through VT DEC) are completed. The manager also assists the Town office, as needed, with posting positions, interviewing candidates and grant reporting. The Town Office completes the bulk of these tasks. There is a paid Assistant Manager/Greeter that does the scheduling, time cards and assists with data collection and reporting. The program runs roughly Memorial Day through Columbus Day. See our Greeter Program Page for more information.
-
GRANTS: This committee assists the Town Clerks office that applies for state and federal government grants on the Lakes behalf. The committee reviews the grant applications (written by Town office) and ensures that grants and grant reports are submitted on time. The committee may also seek out and assist with writing grants that may be available from private organizations as needed.
-
LAKE WISE: This committee promotes the Dept. Of Environmental Conservation’s Lake Wise Program. The purpose of this program is to reduce storm water runoff, which carries pollutants, into the lake. They partner with the Lamoille County Conservation District to educate property owners on best practices to achieve lake healthy properties and to mitigate harmful runoff into the lake. See our Lake Wise page for more information on this program.

-
LOON NESTING: This committee builds and places loon nest(s) and signs in the lake to promote protected & successful loon nesting.
-
MEMBERSHIP: This committee reaches out to Lake property owners, at the start of each season, with a membership campaign to solicit memberships and dues. They also update membership records as indicated.
-
PUBLICITY: This committee provides publicity for news & events related to Lake Eden and the Association, and maintains our Facebook page and website. They assist the board and committees in sending out updates and notices to the membership. It is our hope that we will find someone to produce a spring and fall newsletter.
-
SOCIAL COMMITTEE: Organizes the annual boat parade and plans social gatherings.
-
VT INVASIVE PATROLLERS (VIP’S): VIP’S is a program through the Department of Environmental Conservation. “VIP’s” are volunteers trained on how to identify and survey for aquatic invasive species that pose the greatest threat to our Vermont lakes. Volunteers physically inspect the shoreline at least once in the summer by snorkeling, wading, or utilizing small watercraft. The survey data is collected and submitted annually to the state’s Lakes Program. See our VIP page for more information.

-
WATER QUALITY: This committee participates in the Vermont DEC’s Lay Monitoring Program which tests the lake for phosphorus levels, chlorophyll-a and water clarity weekly from roughly Memorial Day to Labor Day. Findings are reported to the Dept. of Health and posted for membership. For more information see our Sampling & Monitoring Programs on the Sampling & Monitoring page for more information.
-
WATER SHED MANAGEMENT: This committee works as a liaison with the Lamoille County Conservation Committee & the Town Of Eden on implementing projects identified in the Lake Eden Watershed Action Plan to reduce runoff of minerals and sediment into the lake. This committee works in conjunction with the Lake Wise Committee to promote Lake wise practices on lakefront properties. For more information see our Watershed Management page for more information.
