Fishing Rules and Regulations
-
Please only use approved live bait to prevent the introduction of Invasive species such as the alewife (type of herring) fish. They can harm our native fish populations and are destructive to the lake’s ecosystem overall.
-
Please refer to the latest list of live bait that is approved in Vermont https://vtfishandwildlife.com/fish/fishing-regulations/using-baitfish-in-vermont/approved-fish-species-for-bait. Please note that any species not on that list are prohibited by the State of VT. In addition, regulations prohibit the transport of live fish from one water body to another.
-
Do not dump bait buckets or fish in or around the lake unless they came from that lake. Dispose in trash.
-
VT Regulations prohibit transport of live fish from one body of water to another.
-
Lake Eden has Invasive Eurasian Watermilfoil and it can easily be transported to another body of water by “hitchhiking” on your boat or gear. A single 1“ fragment can survive for days and then re-root to form a colony.
-
CLEAN, DRAIN, DRY - Clean (ideally with hot and high-powered water) and drain boats and ALL fishing gear (i.e. bait buckets) after use. Dry thoroughly with a towel and let dry in the sun for 5 days prior to using in another body of water. This includes draining and drying of live wells and bilges. This should be done after leaving ANY body of water to prevent the spread of invasive plant, fish, and other organisms.
